Ann and I want you to know how delighted we are not only with the “finished product” but also with the quality of relationship we enjoyed with Sigmon Construction and so many of your fine colleagues throughout the process. As you know, it took us about 20 years to get around to doing this project, and we made a couple of false starts before finally calling you. We are so glad we did! We could have only dreamed that the project would be finished a week early. The only change orders were ones we initiated and even with those you guys managed to wrap it up within a few bucks of our budget.

Worth special note is the care and attention given to us by your extraordinary project manager. He became an extension of the family, and his attentiveness when I was sidelined by medical issues in the middle of the project was remarkable. Ann was able to call on him anytime she had a concern, and he was willing to make “house calls” to our temporary quarters. There have been precious few punch list and call back items, but he has seen to it that every one of them has been taken care of quickly, thoroughly, and at no expense to us. Ann and I joke that we need to find some other items so we will get to see him again.

We sing your praises throughout the neighborhood, and to anyone who will listen. Please feel free to bring folks over to show off your work. We’ll roll out the red carpet for them.

-KC & Ann R.

We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone at Sigmon Construction for all their hard work. From our very first meeting with Stephen Peed we felt certain that we had selected the right contractor. The quality of work and level of service that we received during our project was excellent… we could not be happier with our family room addition and new deck.

If you would like, please feel free to use us as reference for new clients. We would not hesitate to recommend Sigmon Construction.
Thank you to all!

-Karen & Dan B.

From my initial experience working with Sigmon and their needs to the execution of the projects with Stephen Peed and his team, we have continued to be astounded by the thoroughness of the planning, exacting completion, and professional ‘clean-up’ and follow-up. From simply moving an outdoor faucet, renovating the entire front porch railing and look, to rebuilding a laundry room and even building a grand deck staircase at a lake house, all projects completed by Sigmon have exceeded our expectations. Residential renovations are exciting and an investment we are very confident that we will continue to call Sigmon first when the next project need arises!

-Timothy L.

We were extremely pleased with the work Sigmon performed in remodeling our kitchen. The timing was very important for us as we were hosting a large group for Thanksgiving and had to have everything complete to entertain. The project was carried out quickly, cleanly, and efficiently with a beautiful result and we felt that Hardin was always approachable when questions arose. We now have a warm and elegant space to enjoy as a family and share with friends. We highly recommend Sigmon Construction and hope to use them for future remodeling projects.

-Ashley L.

We can’t believe we waited as long as we did to remodel our kitchen. It was not only an upgrade to our home but most importantly to the quality/ function of our lives. We’re enjoying our space and having friends over all the time!

-Lou W.

Sigmon Construction has been our vendor of choice for over twenty years on both new construction and renovation projects. Each project presented their own unique set of challenges and stress, and Sigmon Construction met each one with professionalism and dedication. Our thirty year old home still feels brand new to us, and we love it. Let Sigmon Construction help you fall in love with your home too.

-Mike R.

I love the whole group everyone was wonderful to work with. When you said 3 months for my renovation, I said ‘yeah, I’ll give ‘em 4 months.’ You finished in 3 just like you said you would! Tell people to call me anytime and I’ll sing your praises!

-Kate T.

I like you guys even better now, then when we started. We are really pleased, and look forward to Phase 2.

-John N.

The guys were a great team to have on our project. As they checked out each area after the old door was removed, they carefully checked for rot and took the necessary measures to replace sub-flooring, treads, and even some oak in the breakfast area.

I was amazed how well equipped they were to our job. Their ‘shop in a trailer’ was terrific. They were great at determining required materials and going out and procuring it or getting the material ordered if it wasn’t in stock at the supplier.
The two of them were always polite and neat. They were very well-mannered and extremely talented. Please give our thanks to them for a job well done.

-David J.

As we near the completion of our post-construction punch list, my wife and I already miss the daily contact with you, your excellent project manager, James, and the many fine people associated with Sigmon Construction, Inc.

The construction of our new home turned out to be an enjoyable undertaking for us both, and I think it is important to identify the reasons for the good quality of our experience. We believe that cost efficiencies provided a solid basis for the project. During construction, your personal attention and participation resulted in the project’s completion ahead of schedule and on budget. Finally, every issue which arose between the owner and the builder, from start to finish, was addressed quickly, candidly, and satisfactorily.

My wife and I both appreciate Sigmon Construction’s quality of work and the spirit of friendship which was persisted throughout the project on all levels. Please feel free to provide our names as references to any prospective customers of Sigmon Construction, Inc. with thanks and all good wishes.

This letter is to make you aware of a wonderful experience that my family has had with Sigmon Construction Company.

For years, my mother owned an interior design business in Raleigh. Her interior design expertise was illustrated in the various restaurants that she and my father owned. She would continually search for antiques, tapestries, paintings, place settings, etc. to keep up with the newest trends and concepts. In her original home, her taste was quite exquisite and truly exceptional. Her home was even featured in a local magazine. She had such grand style, with lots of European flair, and when she was ready to remodel her newly purchased home on Williamsboro Court in Raleigh approximately five years ago, I knew that choosing a construction company would be a challenge. Sigmon Construction Company was chosen by my mother and there certainly were no regrets. Working with and under Alice’s supervision, Sigmon Construction Company remodeled her house lending their expert advice on numerous elements of the house planning. They basically had to start from scratch as most every room was majorly transformed. Sigmon was extremely reliable, dependable, and provided her with the best knowledge and the most effective ways to obtain her goal. They took a great interest, as they do with every job, into striving to obtain the comfortable feel and special look that she wanted for this place she would soon call home. Hardin Sigmon truly oversaw the operation with special consideration and if he was unable to be on site he left his highly capable and hardworking foreman to oversee the day to day operation. Upon completion of the house, Sigmon would not totally release itself from this contract until they made sure that Alice was completely satisfied, as they took every job seriously and did minor repairs and changes that were needed. Customer relations were always first and foremost and Sigmon surely provided my mother with outstanding service and quality.

I cannot say enough about this fine company. They did an incredible job with my mother’s home and she was truly pleased with the outstanding results. I strongly recommend this company to anyone who is remotely contemplating remodeling their house or building from the ground up.

-Van E.

It has been a real pleasure working with Sigmon Construction on our recent kitchen renovation. Throughout the entire project everyone from Sigmon has had an extremely positive attitude. Everyone was always polite and honest and everyone wanted us, the homeowners, to be happy with their work. Service and a high standard of quality were always a top priority.

We had an exceptional superintendent. He always appeared to be upbeat, happy and positive. The quality of his work was excellent. His attitude was outstanding and he was always not only open to constructive criticism, but he actually invited it. Joe was also good about handling last minute changes and was very reliable. If for some reason there needed to be a change in plans, he kept us informed. If he ever became frustrated or unhappy, he never showed any irritation. He was always polite and his manners were impeccable. It was a real pleasure having him in our home.

We have had a number of previous renovation projects to our home, but this was definitely the most professional project and certainly the most enjoyable one. We look forward to the opportunity of working with Sigmon Construction on future projects.

-Joe & Kathie W.

I want to take this time to express Ann’s and my appreciation for the manner in which your folks have handled the construction across the street. That has been a big project on a small site and yet you have kept it clean and our inconvenience has been minimal. Our neighbor has made similar comments. Thanks for your usual attention to detail and consideration.

-Bill C.

We have enjoyed watching the progress being made on our very fine addition. Everyone has been so courteous and kind when asked the myriad of questions we have for them. It’s very comforting to know that the craftsmen take pride in their work. I know our mother is pleased, we’re ready to move in also! Thank you so very much!

-Dean & Jim K.

I have waited far too long to write you this letter, but Debbie and I wanted to let you know what an outstanding job your company did on our addition. Until you came by to look at the house, we almost did not go ahead with the attic addition, because we had been unable to find a builder who was excited about the difficult job of adding a second story while retaining the original charm of the house. Your eye for tradition and style and your can-do attitude gave us the confidence we needed.

Though such a big job has its inconvenience, you and your employees went beyond the call of duty in keeping the construction from intruding while we continued to live in the house. Your decisions to wait until the end to build the stairwell, and to build an exterior set of stairs as access during construction made all the difference. Your project manager and employees kept us up to date and included us in all key decisions. This developed a trust and comfort level that was pretty important when we left for the hospital for the birth of our second child, while a good part of the roof was removed awaiting reconstruction!

We also want to thank you for the prompt follow-up on the couple of minor matters that have arisen since construction was complete. These are inevitable, and show your commitment to stand behind your work.

Please tell any prospective client to feel free to call us and come by to see your work. With a couple of years past since completion, our house is an even better testament to the quality of the workmanship and your company’s unique ability to create a home we can live in forever, without losing the charm that lead us to buy it in the first place.

-Debbie & William S.

I am so thrilled with the steps into the garden that I am enjoying that as much as the porch. We have enjoyed sitting out there morning, noon, and night. Thanks again to you and to Sigmon Construction for this wonderful addition to our home!

-Nancy & John B.

I want to express appreciation for a job well done. All your staff were great. I particularly wish to mention James McGuyrt. James kept us informed about each step of the project. He kept people on schedule. We appreciated the fact that everyone was there when James said they would be there. Also, in addition to being a great project manager, he often “got his hands dirty” as well. It’s also important to note that we made a number of changes throughout the course of our bathroom renovation and James was always accommodating, usually stating, “We’ll do it the way you want it.” It has been a pleasure doing business with your company. Our bathroom is gorgeous.

-Aillene & Rick F.

I want to thank you for the great job your team did on our construction project, recently completed. We are thrilled with the results and have no regrets. I know we paid a premium for your services but the project met or exceeded all of our expectations, so it was worth it, in our opinion.

We were very impressed with your people, each and every one. Without exception they were skilled, polite, and respectful of our family and our home. I especially like what I think of as the Sigmon ‘can do’ attitude. I asked for lots of little extras and had some requests for tangential tasks. Never did I hear “no, sorry, we can’t do that.” I’ve hired contractors before who just couldn’t ever seem to get the job done the way I like it, and I was so happy to find that this was not the case with your group.

I especially want to express my gratitude to the leader of my project. He made sure that the project moved along seamlessly, almost without a blip. He was consistently available to us, courteous, friendly, and lots of fun. They were a real pleasure to have in our house, day in and day out, over three months.

My husband and I plan to call upon Sigmon in the future whenever we need changes to our home. We’ve already lined up Sigmon Painting to repaint the exterior next month. When I said goodbye to our manager at the end of the project, we laughingly concluded that a Sigmon project costs a bunch of money, but the work is great and the people are fun. Thank you.

-Tracy S.

Thank you for the excellent repairs/work done in my house. The workers were all both polite and hard-working — qualities that are indeed an asset to your company. I am so pleased to have everything looking so nice!

-Mary Louise T.

I think I have told you that Ed and I are very pleased with the work that was done here but I feel as though I should put it in writing. You have great employees that worked here. They were really nice people and did excellent work. We couldn’t be more pleased.

-Judy P.

Thank you for making our remodeling a “painless” experience! I appreciate all your prompt return phone calls, patience, and professionalism. It has been a real pleasure working with you. We are really enjoying our new room! It looks better than I could even imagine! Thank you for a quality, top-notch job. I appreciate everyone’s hard work.

-Laurie & Will S.

Thanks for the prompt good work and clean up.

-Bill R.

My wife, Christy, and I live near Wade Ave. in Raleigh. We purchased this house in March of 1997. Shortly after that, we decided to start remodeling our home. We decided that we wanted a sun room. After conducting some research into contractors and builders in the area, we learned through several other folks about Sigmon Construction and the quality of work this company provided. We looked at several homes that had been remodeled by Sigmon Construction and met with its owner, Hardin Sigmon. After this meeting, we knew that Sigmon Construction was the right construction company for our needs. We eventually entered into a contract for Sigmon Construction to tear down and rebuild a new sun room on our home.

A year or so later, we were so pleased with Sigmon Construction’s work, that we hired Sigmon Construction again to add an entire second floor to our single-story ranch home. As a result of this renovation, we almost doubled the size of our home and were able to obtain all of the custom features that we wanted. After this second major addition was completed, we hired Sigmon Construction Company for a third time to remodel our kitchen and downstairs area.

Throughout all of our projects, we have been most impressed with the way that Sigmon Construction always keeps the lines of communication open and is always sensitive to our questions and concerns. Throughout our dealings with Sigmon Construction, we have always felt that our desires were taken into consideration, while at all times relying upon their expertise to help us in achieving the goals we wanted for our home. We have personally met several of the superintendents and employees of Sigmon Construction and all have exhibited professionalism and politeness. It is also important to emphasize that no matter what work was going on at the house, the construction site was always kept in a neat and orderly fashion. Christy and I would highly recommend Sigmon Construction to anyone who is considering any type of remodeling project. We will gladly make our house available for anyone who wants to see the wonderful work that Sigmon Construction does.

Derek C.

We were referred to you, you may recall, by Mae, and we appreciate her referral. This letter is in praise of your project manager, James McGuyrt and several of the subcontractors working with him.

Our remodeling job (two bathrooms and a bedroom) is virtually completed, and my husband David and I want to note the quality of construction and our appreciation of Mr. James McGuyrt’s management.

James’ experience, his eye for detail, his patience, and his ability to get the job done right – despite several major delays – have been essential to our project’s completion. We found Mr. McGuyrt always ready with a solution that would make your company appear in the best light; in other words, he is a loyal employee in addition to his other qualities, and he goes out of his way to try to please the customer. He was communicative with us, whether the work was going well or in some cases not well.

Several of the subcontractors who worked with him are also noteworthy for their skill and experience. We will be happy to recommend your company in the future.

-Nancy & David M.

Just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for my wonderful refrigerator panels and the superb work done by your company on my addition. I am so pleased with everything, I don’t know what to say!

I loved my crew. They were all very professional, however, Gene and DJ became somewhat family. They reassured me when I was down or skeptical, and kept me laughing when the tears were about to surface… (stress is not my forte). In any event, everyone was great and you are blessed to have such great people working for you.

Also, many thanks to you for the kind gift of refrigerator panels. They were definitely needed but simply not in the budget! When everything gets decorated, you must come over for a visit to see them! They’re fabulous and make the kitchen! Thank you for such a nice gift – I really, really appreciate it!

Many thanks again to all at Sigmon Construction. I’d do it all again – if I had to.

Alyson P.

Now having learned how to work the gas fireplace, our enjoyment of the additional rooms is complete! This past Thanksgiving really brought to mind that we have so very much to be thankful for. We could not be more pleased with how all the rooms turned out. All of us are truly enjoying each and every room. I’m sorry you dropped by when I was still in the process of getting the rooms organized.

We owe you so much for all your help in the planning and execution of the project. You had perfect timing in arriving when we had a problem we couldn’t work through. Bob and I can’t say enough about the high quality of men you have working for you. Mark was ever patient with us and always positive with his “That’ll work” attitude. The quality of John’s cabinet/counter work is definitely in a class by itself. your generous gift of painting the kitchen cabinets has given me a whole new kitchen! Thank you so much!

Our sincerest thanks to you and your team for all you did in making our home much more pleasurable for the many more years that we and our grandchildren will be here to enjoy it.

-Carol & Bob S.

I have known Hardin Sigmon and Sigmon Construction for several years and have insured them since the first day business started. In the past, they have done several jobs for clients of the agency, some of which were residential and the other commercial. Sigmon has done work on my mother’s house, my personal residence, and my agency. Their work is excellent. Unlike most contractors in the area, Sigmon employs many employees instead of having to sub out much of their work. I highly recommend Sigmon Construction. They are an excellent choice for a general contractor.

-Ronnie B.

Sigmon Construction was great to work with. I started out working with Hardin Sigmon, the president of the company, and we laid out every aspect of the job before the work started. Everyone was professional. The project manager was very responsive and took care of what needed to be done. The job was completed in a timely manner and within my budget. I would recommend Sigmon Construction Inc. to anyone who is looking to start a commercial project and wants the job done within scope and budget.

-Terry S.

Well, D-Day is finally here. Everybody is cleaning up, packing up, and getting ready to move on to other jobs. I want you to know that I am extremely pleased with the finished product. Everything looks great!

Hardin, you and I have talked many times about what sets one company apart from its competitors. It’s certainly no secret that it revolves largely around one’s employees. The other is the calibre of leadership from management. I think your company excels on both levels. During what you know has been a difficult time in my life, you and your men worked extremely hard to minimize the inconveniences of our renovation. For this I am truly appreciative.

I also can’t say enough about the quality of men you had on the job. Despite the pressure of getting it done, never did anyone compromise the quality of their work for expediency’s sake. They were all true professionals on the job. I also can’t say enough about Dennis. He was always there doing something, generally the first to arrive and the last to leave. I believe he would have cooked dinner for us had we asked.

All told, you should be very proud of the men in your employ. You should also give yourself a pat on the back.

-Mike R.

I would like to thank and commend you on a job well done. I am more than satisfied with the overall scope of the project, but I would like to mention a few things in particular. It has been very refreshing to watch your crew perform in such a timely and efficient manner. You told me you could get the job done in a certain amount of time and you did so. Trying to get a restaurant upfitted and open is typically an extremely stressful undertaking, and in my case even more so given that during our expansion I had a business to run at the same time. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated knowing that your guys were doing things right the first time. You have a truly exceptional staff; not only are they incredibly skilled craftsmen, but they are all honest and good people. We continually had customers in and out of the bistro while construction was in progress, and your employees always behaved as true gentlemen. It was also a pleasure working with Jean in the office, as she always had the answers to my questions. When I needed someone here pronto, she could make it happen.

Hardin, you have a solid business from top to bottom, and I feel fortunate to have you as my construction company. I will highly recommend Sigmon Construction to other restaurants in the future.

-John T.

You have to know how beautiful the cabinets are. I also want to commend to you the staff that you have collected. Each and every one who came over here was absolutely top-drawer. They were super. It is such a pleasure working with people who are so qualified and also charming and polite. You have done good work here and we all appreciate it. Thank you so much.

-Meta E.

The work you did in our chapel is absolutely superb. It looks as if it had been there since 1856. The finish blends perfectly. To say “thank you” seems inadequate.

I’m sure Meta would tell you that they cannot imagine how they functioned without the things that have just been added. That glorious chapel, which is the heart of our campus, has been wonderfully enriched and made more useful for its purpose.

Let me thank you for the care and skill and intelligence you brought to the task. We are a better institution because of your efforts. You should be very proud of what you accomplished. We are very thankful for your gift.

-Clauston J.

Hardin Sigmon and this team did an unbelievable job meeting the timelines committed to and delivering to us a project that will provide Raleigh Country Club a different perception in the community and take us to where we need to be in the future. Their workmanship, in my opinion, is second to none. As in any project of this magnitude, we had our issues, changes, and roadblocks. Hardin’s team, along with our project management team from Bovis Lend Lease, and our architecture team from Cline Design, worked very hard and met our requests, worked through the issues, and again, delivered a product that has exceeded all of our expectations.

-Dan C.

Just thought I would drop you a note and thank you for your continued support of our renovation project. Your service and staff have continued to be professional in every manner and always willing to meet our needs. When working on a project such as ours, including the renovation of the 21,000 sq ft in clubhouse additions and 7,500 sq ft in our new maintenance facility, we were extremely pleased with the high level of quality and finish work you provided.

We look forward to working with you during the completion of our construction project. I would definitely recommend your company to others looking for superior work and professional performance.

-Greg S.

It is difficult to convey in a few words my impressions and opinions of your services. Basically, Unity House was transformed from a deteriorating mess into a building striking enough that many strangers have stopped to admire and to ask questions about the renovation. So that means your company produces high-quality results. But most importantly, it is the process or working relationship with your company that deserves comment. This is where Sigmon Construction really stands out. You and your staff were professional, reliable, knowledgeable and even fun to work with. The project manager did an outstanding job helping us keep our program up and running during the renovation, which must have been a nightmare in terms of arranging the work schedules. He worked long hours, even weekends to make sure the job got done. Even after the work was completed, he assisted us when we needed help with warranties, etc. Although I won’t say that this was not a stressful period, simply due to trying to operate normally while the whole house was torn up, I think that without your company doing the work I probably would have needed mental health service myself! Thanks for all your work and patience.

-Pat M.

It is with great appreciation that I say thank you to you for assisting us with repairs that needed to be made on our facility on West Morgan Street. I am enormously grateful to you for donating your work.

SAFEchild believes in demonstrating excellent stewardship to our funders/friends. To that end, it is most important that the majority of the dollars we raise be spent on services to fragile families living in Wake County. Your contribution of the work permits us to devote our hard-earned funds directly to protecting children and our community from the tragedy of child abuse. Thank you again for assisting us to realize our mission to prevent child abuse in Wake County.

-Marjorie M.
